NARROWING DOWN YOUR OPTIONS
When looking for kids’ birthday party invitations on Minted, you're sure to find a design that fits the birthday child and their personality! There are many filters on our site that can help you find exactly what you are looking for. First, start by filtering our collection of over 600 unique designs by age. Choose from one of the many age group options, including 1, 2, 3, 4-6, 7-12, or over 13. Each filter option will show you an array of age-relevant designs that will help you find the perfect option for the celebration you are hosting. It’s important to know that for most of our designs the age is customizable, meaning you can adjust a design to fit your child’s age!
Choose one of the younger age filters, like 1, 2, or 3, to find adorable designs geared towards younger children who are new to the whole birthday party experience. These designs feature more whimsical and colorful elements like rainbows, balloons, and unicorns. Many of our first- and second-year designs feature more personal imagery on the front of the card, as invited guests will enjoy seeing how your child has aged since they last saw them. Or perhaps you’ll want to choose the 4-6 age category, for more playful designs featuring mermaids, dinosaurs, fuzzy llamas, jungle animals, and more. Lastly, if your child is in the 7-12 or 13+ age group, we have an impressive assortment of copy-forward designs that are perfect for your tween or teen.
We also encourage you to use the gender filter to help narrow down your design choices. Use the “girl” filter to view recommended birthday invites for girls. These designs feature florals, mermaids, unicorns, castles, and more. Or use the “boy” filter to view designs featuring nautical scenes, dinosaurs, automobiles, outer space, or sport-centered designs. You can even use the “neutral” filter to view designs that would be perfect for any child’s special day! The neutral feature will help you find general designs featuring neutral colors, party sweets, balloons, and photo-centric designs that will let your child’s smile shine. You can even combine multiple filter options to narrow down your design results even further.
FIND AN INVITATION PERFECT FOR YOUR CHILD’S BIRTHDAY THEME
When planning your child’s birthday party, one of the most important aspects you’ll want to consider is the party theme. Whether you already have one in mind or you’re looking for inspiration, you’re sure to find a creative and cute invitation design idea on Minted. Sort through our “theme” filter at the top of the page to explore designs that complement all our favorite children's birthday themes.
Here are some popular children’s birthday party invitation themes that you might consider when making your selection:
- Unicorn Birthday: If your child admires these majestic creatures, maybe throwing a unicorn-themed birthday party is the perfect fit! Use the “rainbows & unicorns” filter option to view unicorn birthday invitations featuring artistic interpretations of unicorns in an array of pastel colors. We even have foil-pressed unicorn-themed cards, which can enhance the magical feel of the card and overall party theme.
- Wildlife Party: Perhaps your child loves the outdoors and animals, in which case you might consider looking through our animal-themed cards. These cards feature a collection of children’s favorite animals like toucans, lions, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, flamingos, and so much more. Some specific wildlife designs even feature exotic rainforest-like settings and florals, perfect for a birthday safari.
- Farm Animals: If your child loves visits to the farm and countryside, perhaps throwing them a farm-themed birthday party is a great option! Use the “farm” style filter to view our designs that feature farm animals like cows, pigs, chickens, and horses. These designs also feature tractors, barns, and burnt red color schemes to help bring the theme full circle.
- Space Birthday: Perfect for the child who has a curiosity about the night’s sky, use the “science & space” filter to view designs featuring astronauts in spacesuits, spaceships heading to the moon, moon buggies, and more. These celestial designs are a perfect way to make your kid’s celebration out of this world! We love the party theme of “Two the Moon” for a two-year-old’s party.
- Dinosaur Theme: We’ve got plenty of designs to choose from for all the future paleontologists and archaeologists out there. Select the “dinosaurs” style filter to view all designs featuring a tyrannosaurus rex, brachiosaurus, or stegosaurus in volcanic jungle settings.
- Superhero Party: If your kid has always dreamt of being a superhero, make their dreams come true with a superhero birthday theme! Use the “superhero” filter to view designs featuring heroes flying in capes, showing their super-strength, or saving the day. You can even choose from some of our photo-designs to transform your child into the featured superhero of the party!
- Cake & Sweets Themed Party: Every kid loves candy and sweets, so why not make a theme out of it?! Have a dessert table at the party that matches edible treats shown on your birthday invitation. Use the “Cake & Sweets” style filter to view invites featuring colorful birthday cakes, sprinkle-covered donuts, melty ice cream sundaes, or sweet cupcakes. This is the perfect birthday theme for any kid with a sweet tooth.
- Planes, Trains, & Automobiles: If your child can’t put down the toy cars and planes, this theme is a great option for them! Use the “planes, trains, & automobiles” filter to view big red fire trucks, planes soaring through the sky, cars filled with animal friends, or trains chugging along the track! You can even pick a birthday invite design featuring a photo of your child, making them the conductor of the celebration.
- Camping & Adventure: Tap into their love of nature and the great outdoors with a camping themed party. You can use the “camping & adventure” filter to view designs featuring tents in camping sites, gooey marshmallows over campfires, and starry night skies. Maybe you even set up a tent or two in the backyard!
- Princess & Fairytale: Who doesn’t enjoy a good fairytale? Choose this filter option to view designs featuring whimsical castles, effervescent carriages, and princesses in gowns and tiaras.
While finalizing a theme, you might also consider the seasonality of your child's birthday party. If you’re hosting a summer celebration, you can use the “pool party, beach & luau”, or “nautical” theme filters to find the perfect card to celebrate a party under the warm sun! If you’re hosting an autumn party, maybe you can play off the Halloween festivities and look at our “Halloween & monsters” selection. For a winter party, experiment with a birthday invite featuring snowy settings and ice castles. Start with the “picnic” filter to view some pleasant outdoorsy designs suitable for a spring party.
These are just some of the many style filters you can choose from to narrow down our selection of over 600 kids’ birthday invitations, all created by independent artists.
PERSONALIZING YOUR KIDS BIRTHDAY PARTY INVITATIONS
Once you’ve found the perfect card design for your child’s party, it’s time to begin personalizing your selection. You can start by deciding what size card you would like to order. Choose from our Classic, Petite, or Postcard options which range in size from 5” x 7” to 4.25” x 6”. Next, you can adjust the color theme options for the design you selected. Choosing a specific color theme is a great way to highlight your child’s favorite colors or match the colors to your party decor! After you’ve selected a color theme that you love, you can make your card even more playful by altering the shape of the card. Instead of a perfectly rectangular card with straight edges and 90-degree corners, add some curves. You can choose the “waved frame” option to accent the beachy waves of your luau-themed party. Or maybe choose an unconventional rounded menu shape to accent your refined garden tea-party!
After you’ve set up the basic colors and shapes on your card, it’s time to begin customizing the photos and text. When making adjustments to your design, be sure to include the key details for your child’s birthday party including party date, location, time, and RSVP information. If you chose a photo design, consider working with your child to pick their favorite photo to include. Once you’ve updated all the information on the front of the card, it’s time to begin customizing the back as well. We provide over six creative templates to manipulate that combine text and photos in creative ways. One template allows you to create caption bubbles over personal images. The back of the card is also the perfect place to include any additional party information you weren’t able to include on the front, like directions to the party location or additional details about the party theme.
As you finalize your kids’ birthday invitations, it’s the finishing design touches Minted provides that will really make your invite pop! First, choose from one of our colored envelope options to match your card. Some of our envelope color options include antique rose, cloud blue, and speckletone kraft. Next, make your invitation shine by hinting at the party theme through the look of the recipient addressing. We offer free professionally printed recipient addressing on all your envelopes in the styling of your choice. This is a great way to share a sneak peek of your unicorn or outer space theme on the outside of the card. Create excitement around your invite before it is even opened!
TIPS & TRICKS FOR PARTY PLANNING

- Set a date and check with parents to make sure your kid's best friends can attend.
- Choose your location and theme by week 5 of planning. This will allow you extra time to plan entertainment and find the perfect decorations.
